Carrie Schaefer, MS, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Carrie Schaefer is a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who also holds certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). For the past 18 years, she has served Fredericksburg and the surrounding communities, providing compassionate, patient-centered care across a wide variety of healthcare settings.
Carrie earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in 2017. Her clinical background includes extensive experience in women’s health, including reproductive healthcare, the management of low-risk pregnancies, and menopause care, along with behavioral health and addiction medicine. That combination gives her an uncommon perspective on how physical and mental health shape one another at every stage of life.
Her approach to care is grounded in trauma-informed principles, with a focus on creating a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Before entering healthcare, Carrie taught theatre arts in Stafford County Public Schools, an experience that strengthened her passion for connection, communication, and helping others grow. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling the world, hiking, paddle boarding on the Rappahannock River, watching sports (Go Orioles!), and spending time with animals, especially cats.
Carrie’s dual certification, breadth of experience, and compassionate approach make her a valuable addition to Elite Gynecology and Wellness and a trusted provider for women’s health and wellness needs.
